By the second week of July, the parking lot at Kierland thins out, the valet line at the Waterfront gets shorter, and the reservation apps that stayed locked from January through April start showing 7:30 tables again. Scottsdale in summer is not empty. It is just less crowded by the people who fly in for it.
For residents who stay through the monsoon, that shift is the whole point. The restaurants that were engineered around Art Week traffic, the resort pools that priced out day guests in February, the galleries that ran on tour-bus rhythm in March, all reset to something closer to a neighborhood pace. The trick is knowing which pieces of the March buildup are still here in July, and which ones are worth actually using.
